What makes a web directory strong ?
April 20th, 2007 by alexIf you think to submit your site to web directories your choices shouldn’t be based only on directory’s PageRank. There are many other factors that makes a directory worth submitting to. AlexaRank, incoming links, indexed pages along with many others stats are also important factors for deciding if a directory is good or bad.
One of my favorite directories is Ally Business Directory, for the moment has only PR2 but I am sure that this won’t be like that for long, it will have a higher PR when the next update will occur. But like I said before not only the PR is important for a directory, for example Ally Business Directory has over 100000 backlinks according to Yahoo and Alexa Rank 155345. Besides all this high stats Ally Directory has a nice webmaster’s blog where you can read the latest news about directories and great articles about directory submissions and their benefits.
Well I hope you like this directory as much as I do and because submitting sites to web directories remains a highly effective method to ensure high traffic these days I will review more directories which are strong and worth submitting to.

Even greater than Page Rank, the strongest factor to consider in choosing a paid directory is editorial quality. Web directories that accept anyone who pays are not the ones you want to be included in. The ones who list high quality, authority sites are the ones that will in turn give your site a higher authority status. When Google sees your site as an authority is when you will start dominating the rankings.

Lenny: That was my idea also, when you pick up a directory you must be sure that meets some requirements and you shouldn’t make your choice only for the PR of the directory.
