Spread your feed in a nice way
January 30th, 2007 by alex
Feeds are very important for blogs, they usualy turn “one time” visitors in “full time” visitors. There are many ways to spread your feeds and increase your readers numbers like submitting to feed directories or by pinging services but I must tell you about this method for spreading your feed because I really like it…
This is about FeedBurner and their HeadLine Animator, they let you create cool interactive images which will show your latest headlines from your feeds. They provide different sizes and the images are fully customizable (ie you can add your own background).
I have included in this post 1 of those images (180×100) but there many more models to chose from on FeedBurner.
If you want to create your own image login to your FeedBurner, go to “My Feeds”, select the feed which you want image for, select “Publicize” and than “HeadLine Animator” and the rest you will figure it out yourself, you only need to customize the look of your image.

Alex, I see you’re using the MORE quick tag to cut your post at a certain place and invite readers to click to continue reading. Did you set your RSS to full feed or a partial feed? If you set it to full feed, isn’t it showing only up until your More tag? That’s what happened to me after I’ve upgraded to Wordpress 2.1. I want to have partial posts on my blog’s homepage, but full posts in my RSS feeds - couldn’t find any solution to that yet. Any ideas?

I like the ideas you’ve got here. I do wonder if any forums find the signature info overboard, though?

@inspirationbit: Yes I am using more tag and my feeds are full, there seems to be a problem with that.
@Ryan: Well there are many forums that don’t even accept images in the signatures but who knows
maybe you find the right spot for your headline animator.
Cheers !

Testing Subscribe to comments ;( seems like my blog doesn’t send e-mails to subscribed users…
Do you guys receive e-mails ?

If I have the ‘notify…’ item checked yes, I receive e-mails.

Actually, no, I didn’t get any notice of your reply to my comment here… It was working before… I guess it happened after the upgrade?

Well I did make some test on my other blog which is not yet updated and is not working also there… I think I would contact my server administrator, maybe they have some problems
Thanks inspirationbit

It was from them, seems like they turned off a function that sends mail for security reasons, now is on and I hope it will be that way.
They are looking for other solutions to stop spamming :))

I receive the comments as appropriate. This blog is the only one I visit that makes it the default option, though. Not sure if I like that or not!

Ryan
You can check or uncheck the “Subscribe to comments” box.
I am really sorry to hear that from you

@Ryan yeah I keep forgetting to untick the box sometimes as well but Alex it does work as I come back to see what has been said and reply to the comments as necessary so it does prove how effective it really is.
Nice idea for this Feedburner option going to check it out now and stick it into a few forum sigs I visit everynow and then.

Qwerty thanks for “support” over there, anyway what do you think about the HeadLine Animator ?
April 2nd, 2007 at 11:28 pm
Just tried out the HeadLine Animator with one of my blogs and think it is great. Thanks for reminding me about the uses of Feedburner.
