PayPal Romania - Romanian Flag from 1989
May 10th, 2007 by alexToday is a happy day for some of the romanian people which were interested in opening a PayPal account because today PayPal has included Romania on their accepted countries list.
This is very important for all the romanians who earn or spend money online. PayPal in Romania is a very good step in the internet marketing for our country, but for the moment we are allowed only to send money from PayPal accounts and we hope that they will implement their system fast in Romania so we can also receive and withdraw funds.
Anyway with all my happynes when I was signing up at PayPal I couldn’t miss out a huge mistake that they did with our romanian flag, PayPal placed the flag from 1989 for Romania, that flag is from former dictator Nicolae Ceausescu’s time and has been changed 18 years ago.
I must say that PayPal made a good job for opening their doors to Romania but they sure made a big mistake with our flag, let’s just hope they will change it very fast.

Why did they blocked your account… what risk ? And they didn’t allowed you to withdraw your money ? I have read some bad stories but there must be a away to unblock your account or at least withdraw your money.

Actually i didn’t have any problem with paypal so far. And i’m glad that Romania has it now as a start. My fiancee (who is Romanian) had a lot of problem with Western Union because of its big fees. This will make her happy i guess

@Kudret: You can’t send funds to Romanian accounts, for the moment is possible only to receive money.

Well there are many such people making false claims and things like this.
I hope paypal listens to you! Because i know few guys who speak a lot, but when it comes to work, they simply vanish as if they don’t exist.
I hope you get the point.

Why don’t Romanians set up their own PayPal-like service? There’s no reason to sit around like slaves waiting for a handout from your master.
The sad news is that PayPal extended “send-only” accounts to terrorist countries and small island nations at the same time as Romania. In other words, they couldn’t care less about Romania. It was just another country in a long list of places they refuse to do business.
And Romanians act like PayPal is cool… for what reason?

I think if we create our own “PayPal” it will be hard to make a lot of other people to use our system instead of us using the already, supposed trusted system, PayPal.

@Reader X
“Why donāt Romanians set up their own PayPal-like service?”
Debatable as it is, PayPal is the only way in which you can start building a serious Internet Marketing career. For instance, if you want to sell a product directed to the American market, the potential customers will lose their trust if they see that they can only pay through 2CheckOut, for instance. We don’t like it, but PayPal is a trademark that can make a difference between selling or NOT selling.
