New ads from AdSense ?
April 4th, 2007 by alexI have noticed some discussions on some popular forums about new ads from AdSense which contains an “x” (close button) and today I spotted one on my blog, now I am sure that those ads are true. Google is letting people closing the ads, or maybe this is just for webmasters, so they won’t click their own ads (a big LOL).
Here is a print screen with the add…
And here is what happened when I clicked the “x”:
Surprised ? Don’t be ! You can expect anything from the big G !
In my opinion that is a lot of wasted space.

[…] New ads from AdSense ? […]

While it’s official that Adsense introduced new ad “looks” this month, they don’t seem to be confirming the little “x”.
I think it’s just an image trick to get people to click on the ad.

I don’t think that is the idea because when I clicked on the “x” the ad disappeared. How this can trick people to click on the ad ?

It looks more like illegal advere program I would say not adsense.

Jon why do you say that this ad is ilegal ?

I think the idea is neat.
If they allow the visitors to get rid of unwanted ads, I hope more and more Firefox users will abandon the Script Blocker that block Adsense Ads.
I got many friends who have net savvy Firefox visitors who complained that their revenue goes down because their Adsense ads are blocked.
I applaud this move because it shows that Google respect you .. as if Google folks are saying - “If you don’t like our ads, just get rid of them”.

That is what I thought also, I am glad that you share the same opinion about the “x”
Anyway that is not illegal, there is no way that could be illegal.

Wow. That’s kinda cool, actually. But definitely deceiving. The most unusual one I’ve seen is an ad for a quiz. All it says is “Are you” in the header…and “gay?” in the body of the ad.

Interesting but what does it actually mean? Why would Google want to give readers the option not to see an ad?

The big ‘G’ does seem to be mixing things up a bit lately. If this is an example of a new style then it certainly looks better than the previous ones. I don’t know what that ‘X’ in the corner is about though. Closing Adverts? That’s a new one.

It seems to be on the ones with rich media like flash.
Maybe it’s to allow folks to close any distracting animations.

The new little Ad by Google thing in the bottom corner looks good now.
