Google Webmasters Tools Update
February 6th, 2007 by alexIs time to forget about all the tools for checking back links because Google has updated their features on Webmasters Tools. After the update you can view your internal links and also external links for every page of your site…
If you don’t use Google Webmasters Tools you should try them because you can view your site statistics, indexed pages and from the last update you can view your external links for any page included in your site.

Webmasters Tools is also used for submitting sitemaps to Google and is a fact that this tool can speed up the time in which Google index your pages. Among with this you can see the top keywords queries for your site and your placement in the SERPs for that keywords and many other tools for webmasters.
You can read the official announcement on Google Webmaster Central Blog.

OK, none of my sites have the ‘Link’ tab. WTF

I don’t know why this would happen… I see the “Links” tab for ALL my sites :))
Clear your cache and refresh

I figured it out — there was a bug where you could check any site’s links! Google took it down for a little bit to fix it.
It works great for me now.

Ryan so what do you think about this feature now that it works for you also ?

I think it’s pretty cool. Supposedly it still doesn’t show EVERYTHING, but you get a much better idea as to the kind of links you’ve got in your sites. Very well done I think. Before I was using Yahoo’s site explorer, but I think they allow nofollow links through which don’t mean jack at Google.

Don’t forget their xml sitemap, which help index your website. I think it is a very neat tool that everyone should register.

You are right Andy, the sitemap tool helped me a lot to index my blog just 1 day after the launch.

It’s an enough good service. It’s good, for you can check the backlinks “seen” by google. The main limit is it’s too rarely updated.

It’s a great service and I hadn’t realized the addition of the external links. That is fantastic information! Thanks for pointing it out.
