Research by the Association of British Insurers (ABI) has revealed that 35 per cent of households with an annual income of less than £10,000 have no insurance of any kind.

Whilst 82 per cent of households earning between £15,000 and £30,000 have contents insurance, only 44 per cent the poorest households purchase such cover.

The research found that only a third of low income households had motor insurance and only a quarter had life insurance.

Most worryingly, low-income families were found to be the most at risk of loss through crimes such as burglary and arson and natural events like flooding. It was also revealed that in the face of loss a third of low-income households would turn to credit to fund the replacement of their damaged or stolen goods.

According to Sharon Flaherty of the Poverty Site, households with no home contents insurance are at least three times more likely to be burgled than those with insurance; and they are by definition the least financially able to replace stolen goods themselves.

Stephen Haddrill director general at the ABI said: “Insurance provides valuable protection to people on all income levels. The poor are least able to deal with financial loss and depend most on insurance. We need to address the issue of low take-up in low-income groups. A lack of spare cash is the biggest factor holding back the purchase of insurance by lower income households.”

He added that the ABI are already addressing these issues as part of their financial inclusion action plan and that a campaign targeted at low-income households is due for launch in early 2008.

Yesterday I started writing about bloggers days off and ways that bloggers can get some time for recreation. My first article in this series, which was not such a bad idea afterall, was about camping and I even presented some places where you can get camping equipment.

Today I had an other idea about how bloggers should spend their days off and that idea is golfing. Unlike other recreational activities golf is a little bit stressing but at the end of a golfing day I guess you will feel a lot more better. I have to say that I never played golf but you can be sure that this is on my wish list.

Everybody is blogging about making money online, about blogging tips & tricks but rarely you can see people writing about bloggers days off. I think every blogger needs some time to relax and forget about the daily routine (checking stats, writing articles, advertising & monetizing, getting your online business degree - LOL, etc.)

I think I will get a short holiday and go camping or somewhere else where I mustn’t think about my blog very soon. I even found a site where I can buy camping equipment online at very good prices where orders can be placed by phone and I think will give it a try maybe take advantage of their special offers.

Even if my blog is one of the things that I give a lot of attention I think it will be great to get some recreation time and maybe this is a good thing for all bloggers.

I know that this post is nowhere close related to my blog subjects but has I said before, spending some time camping or doing some other recreational activities might be a good thing and without the every day stress maybe you will get some new marketing or advertising ideas.

I was thinking about how web sites are easier to create these days and almost every internet user can setup his own site in a few minutes and I couldn’t stop myself blogging about this. That is a fact because of all the scripts that you can download these days, most of them for free others for small fees. There are scripts for almost every kind of website, for directories, for blogs, for news sites and too many others that don’t come in my mind right now.

One of the scripts that I found interesting and I thought it’s worth mentioning on my blog is a glossary script. Practically you can create your own dictionary for your web site or even develop a complete dictionary / glossary web site.
